Spain’s Jarramplas Festival

Festivals in Spain are not limited to the Running of the Bulls. Other Spanish festivals include the Jarramplas Festival, a late January tradition that involves the devil and…15,000 turnips. People throw the turnips at “Jarramplas” as he wanders through the streets in Piornal beating a drum. The exact origins of the festival are unknown, however it is believed to have to do with the mythological punishment of Caco by Hercules.
